CoinDCX and Forbes India’s Namaste Web3 education and awareness drive held its second event on March 11, 2023, in Delhi, India, to discuss India’s potential to become a leading player in the Web3 market.
The event highlighted India’s young population and tech initiatives such as Digital India, Make in India, Startup India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat that have positioned the country to continue building its tech capability.
Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, MP, Rajya Sabha, Chair, Parliamentary Standing Committees on Commerce, Eminent Jurist, delivered the keynote address, stating that India’s technical talent is Web3’s greatest asset, with projections that the country will have the most developers by 2023.
Dilip Chenoy, who recently took the helm as the first Chairman of Bharat Web3 Association, also addressed the event and commented on the Web3 start-up landscape and the sector’s $30 billion funding in 2021.
The event featured panel discussions on the $1 trillion opportunity presented by Web3 and the development of global regulatory standards for virtual digital assets.
The panel comprised policymakers and industry experts, including Anna Roy, Sr. Adviser, NITI Aayog; Prashanth Swaminathan, Partner, Woodstock Fund; Srinath Sridharan, Author, Policy Researcher & Corporate Advisor; Ajeet Khurana, Founder, Reflexical Pte Ltd; Mr. Gaurav Gogoi, Deputy Leader, Indian National Congress, Lok Sabha and two-time MP from Assam; Shweta Shalini, State Secretary BJP, Maharashtra and Spokesperson BJP; Mr. Gopal Jain, Sr. Advocate; Mr. Prashant Garg, Partner Consulting, EY.
The discussions focused on the potential of Web3 in India and how it can help build robust financial systems and more citizen-centric governance while giving individuals more control over their data and privacy.
The event concluded with a dinner and networking session, highlighting India’s potential to become a leading player in the Web3 market and the benefits it could bring to the Indian economy.
