Veteran Indian bureaucrat Dilip Chenoy takes the helm as the first Chairman of Bharat Web3 Association (BWA) to lead blockchain and crypto industry development in India. BWA is an industry body that was founded in November last year with the objective of fostering collaboration between the government, stakeholders, and the blockchain and crypto sector in India to promote its development.
Dilip Chenoy is an Indian bureaucrat, author, and educationist who has served in several senior leadership positions in the Indian government and private sector. He has been he Secretary-General for the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Director General of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and Director General of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Chenoy has also authored several books and articles on various subjects, including education, skills development, and economic policy.
“I am excited to be chairing Bharat Web3 Association. I believe BWA, which is a collaboration between leading and like-minded entities in the Web3 and Digital Assets sector, has uniquely positioned itself to catalyse the growth and development of the ecosystem,” said Chenoy.

In November of last year, several major crypto companies in India formed the Bharat Web3 Association (BWA) as a new advocacy group after the dissolution of the Blockchain and Crypto Assets Council by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) in July 2022 due to disagreements with crypto companies.
The association aims to promote the development and growth of the blockchain and crypto industry in India by collaborating with the government and other stakeholders.
BWA envisions a future where India is a global leader in the blockchain and crypto industry, and seeks to create an environment that fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in this field. To achieve this goal, the association focuses on advocacy, education, and research.
As an advocacy group, BWA advocates for policies and regulations that support the growth of the industry while safeguarding the interests of stakeholders. The association also seeks to educate the public and policymakers about the benefits of blockchain and crypto, and to dispel misconceptions and myths surrounding this emerging technology.
Through research and analysis, BWA aims to contribute to the development of a robust and sustainable blockchain and crypto ecosystem in India.
