The 2020 edition was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic and the next edition is scheduled to take place from December 2nd to December 5th 2021.
Tezos At Art Basel Miami Beach 2021
The show in a more than 2500-square foot exhibition space carved out for NFTs will feature art works, some interactive, from artists using the Tezos platform. It will also include speakers and panel discussions discussing issues related to the expanding presence of Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) in the art world.
Tezos has also signed on as an Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 partner.
“We’re in a new frontier of art,” Mark Soares, CMO and founder of Blokhaus, a spin-off of Tezos that does marketing and communication for the platform, told CoinDesk. “This experience can bridge two worlds and spotlight great artists sprouted in the workchain category and bring them to new audiences. What we are trying to achieve is a spotlight for the art category in the crypto world at Art Basel, which has a significant reputation.”
Last month, Art Basel itself welcomed NFTs in a big way with crypto artist Olive Allen selling one of her works during the event’s opening day for about $29,000. Allen called the exhibition of NFTs at the Swiss show “a huge milestone towards its acceptance as an art medium on par with painting and sculpture.”

In June, the automotive racing powerhouse McLaren Racing entered into a multi-year technical partnership with Tezos to build its NFT fan experience platform. The music-focused NFT platform OneOf, the marketplace Kalamint and the rapper and singer Doja Cat, among others, have been minting, hosting and trading NFTs on Tezos.
Mark said that Tezos would settle on a roster of artists for Art Basel Miami Beach by the end of October. The speakers and panel discussions, which will address such topics as NFT ownership and the development of artistic communities, will be live-streamed. “This is our way of saying crypto art is here, it’s the real deal, let’s talk about it,” he added.
