Waterfall Network, a layer one (L1) decentralized and scalable ledger, today launched its mainnet with 2,048 active validators. Alongside this milestone, the network’s native $WATER token has been listed on the cryptocurrency exchange Gate.io.
With Ethereum compatibility and innovative DAG technology, Waterfall aims to redefine decentralized smart contract platforms, offering scalability and accessibility for developers worldwide.
Waterfall Network said that $WATER token will be listed on more exchanges in the coming weeks and will be integrated with infrastructure providers globally.
Additionally, the Waterfall Network has outlined plans to incentivize validators with grants and rewards, encouraging community-driven security audits and bug bounty completions to enhance the network’s security and reliability.
“The strength of the Waterfall Network has surpassed even our most optimistic projections during testnet development,” stated Sergii Grybniak, CTO of Blue Wave and Head of Research at Waterfall. “We now look forward to ensuring the community has a great platform to build and grow the network. Waterfall Protocol has been designed to reach communities as nodes can be run on any low-powered computing device, as well as on Linux, Mac, Windows, and in the future, on phones.”
The Waterfall Network protocol, leveraging next-generation Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) technology, promises virtually unlimited scalability and portability for dApps.
During testing, the network demonstrated capability of handling over 10,000 transactions per second. This testing involved a diverse range of devices, from home-based computers and laptops to cloud servers provided by industry giants like Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Digital Ocean, and Hetzner.
In addition to its robust transaction capabilities, the Waterfall Network is already integrated with several prominent staking infrastructure providers, including GigaStake, CoreNodeHQ, Liquify, StarDustStaking, and Infstones, which ranks in the top seven on StakingRewards.com. Further integrations are underway with Web3 Infrastructure Service Provider NebulaBlock and peer-to-peer cloud infrastructure provider Edge.
Waterfall’s collaboration with the Google Cloud Web3 Startup Program has been instrumental in its development. The testing phase revealed that the first version of Waterfall’s mainnet could support over 1.5 million validators, surpassing the capacity of any existing proof-of-stake network, including Ethereum.
Last year, Waterfall Network raised $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by ByteTrade Lab.
