French city Neuilly-sur-Seine announces that it is launching NeuillyVote, an anonymous and secure blockchain voting solution, starting from October 12.
The Voting Solution Brings A New Space For Expression
NeuillyVote blockchain voting solution allows Neuillyens to express themselves online anonymously on subjects that concern their daily lives.
The very first election concerns the cultural field: from October 12 to 18, 2021, residents will be able to vote online for the books they want to find in the Media Library. It will help public library to acquire the books that citizens want to read.
From a selection offered, Citizens can choose the 3 books they want to find on the shelves. One week after the end of the online vote, participants will receive by email the results with the 3 winning books which will then be purchased by the Library.
After the books, the second experiment will quickly concern films from the Le Village cinema. Ultimately, NeuillyVote will be applied more broadly to other municipal projects, such as voting on the dates for neighborhood renovation works or the opening hours of public facilities.
First milestone of a large-scale project
This first low-stake election lays the foundations for a large-scale project, made possible by an innovative and highly secure solution. NeuillyVote blockchain voting solution is based on Tezos blockchain.
E-scrutineers
Five elected officials from the City have been selected to become e-scrutineers: these elected officials will thus be able to test the robustness of the solution and ensure its ease of use, transparency and security.
NeuillyVote being an open-source solution, everyone can also check the voting procedures.
With NeuillyVote, the City offers a powerful tool at the service of participatory democracy, reusable by other communities. Interested citizens can participate in the voting system by signing up with just an email. After signing up, the person will receive a link to cast a vote.
