United States, August 18, 2022 / AlexaBlockchain/ – Earlier this year Oxalis Games raised $4.5 million to kick-start development of Moonfrost, a multiplayer social-simulation game, belonging to the same genre as the likes of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing.
The seed round was led by Blocore and included: Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands and Griffin Gaming Partners. The game also has backing from Supercell, marking their first and to date, only investment in web3 gaming.
Since closing the round, founders Gina Nelson and Ric Moore have grown the studio from 2 to 25 people in the space of just 7 months, predominantly hiring senior developers, designers and artists from well-known studios.
Gina, Art Director at Moonfrost, said:
“The game is designed to appeal to a very broad audience from indie to casual gamers. Currently there is a small pool of female audiences within web3 games and Moonfrost is seeking the opportunity to expand this pool.”
Unlike many crypto games, Moonfrost would be accessible to wide range of users to install and play. Users would not require having any tokens or wallet set-up in order to play the game which would allow many users to pick up and play just as other kind of mobile games that people are already familiar with.
Ric Moore, Commented:
“Blockchains are another kind of database. To be true of crypto games; the blockchain part should be invisible to the player.”
Moreover, there will be in-app purchases allowing the users to purchase many intriguing items with a single tap. Users would be also able to obtain items that can be NFTs, which include: pets, clothes, decor and shops through gameplay or by purchasing them. Moonfrost users would be able to keep the obtained items, or even trade them on secondary marketplaces.
The game will have its own Solana based token called FROST. The team has successfully ran launchpad sales on DexLab and Solanium in May. First trailer of the Moonfrost game is expected to be released near early October.
