BitPay has introduced support for three prominent Layer 2 networks—Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base—in its latest wallet app update, furthering its push to enhance Web3 accessibility for its users.
As one of the largest cryptocurrency payment service providers globally, BitPay’s expansion offers its community a more comprehensive toolkit within its self-custody wallet.
The update allows users to purchase assets, securely store tokens, swap between cryptos, cash out, and explore decentralized apps (dApps) from a single interface.
“Integrating Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base into BitPay’s wallet is a major milestone,” noted Bill Zielke, BitPay’s Chief Marketing Officer. “This upgrade reflects our commitment to enhancing blockchain utility and offering users streamlined access to Web3 tools and resources.”
Layer 2 networks, designed to ease congestion on Ethereum’s main blockchain, are essential to scaling blockchain’s speed and affordability. Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base each bring substantial traction to Ethereum, boasting over 100 million monthly transactions collectively. Now, BitPay Wallet users can leverage these networks to:
Explore Web3 and decentralized finance apps seamlessly;
Buy various tokens with updated market rates via partner platforms;
Securely store and manage assets with robust self-custody features;
Sell assets with competitive rates through BitPay’s partners;
Swap crypto easily across supported tokens;
Send and receive peer-to-peer transactions efficiently.
Beyond the Layer 2 integration, BitPay’s app refresh has rolled out a new user interface to simplify cross-network management. Key updates include support for EVM accounts for unified Ethereum and Layer 2 asset management, automatic token detection for EVM accounts, and enhanced sorting by network.
This integration builds on BitPay’s existing support for Polygon and the Bitcoin Lightning Network, underscoring its commitment to an accessible, multi-chain Web3 experience.
With these updates, BitPay further strengthens its appeal to users seeking an all-in-one solution for managing digital assets across leading Layer 2 ecosystems.
