Eat2Earn platform Plato has integrated with the NEAR Blockchain to bring advanced user-owned AI capabilities to its native crypto restaurant App.
The integration of user-owned AI within Plato’s platform, offers users full control over their data and interactions. This initiative aligns with the core principles of decentralization and user sovereignty, emphasizing privacy and security.
The dynamic food marketplace demands solutions that foster continuous customer engagement, and Plato’s AI-driven features aim to redefine the dining experience for everyday eaters.
Plato Eats dApp users contribute to a comprehensive dataset centered on food, backed by purchase verification and participation from individuals across more than 90 countries. Food enthusiasts are incentivized through on-chain reputations and rewards, earning the opportunity to post reviews post-dining. This unique dataset enables Plato to offer personalized recommendations via its AskPlato interface, akin to ChatGPT, based on spending habits and preferred travel distances. Future updates will include automated reservation capabilities, streamlining the dining experience further.
Robert Kao, co-founder of Plato, mentioned: “By integrating with NEAR, Plato is taking its first step in aligning with NEAR’s vision of a web3-enabled AI ecosystem.”
“As Plato’s army of foodies earn reputations and rewards for creating verified user-generated content, we are ready to build on NEAR’s framework that allows further monetization within the NEAR ecosystem,” Robert added.
The NEAR Foundation is developing the underlying AI infrastructure that will support features such as data collection, crowdsourcing, and the creation of an agentic infrastructure that allows for novel ways of monetization and ensuring the verifiability of training and inference processes.
“This collaboration demonstrates the practical, transformative capabilities of NEAR’s infrastructure in real-world applications, leveraging our chain abstraction stack. We look forward to enhancing the dining experience for users worldwide,” Jarrod Barnes, Head of Founder Success at NEAR Foundation, said in a statement.
Plato Eats dApp has already made a significant impact, supporting over 15 million restaurants globally with check-ins at over 10,000 restaurants across 94 countries. Catering to diverse tastes, the platform offers 31 different cuisine types and has a user base of over 25,000 monthly users, boasting a remarkable month-over-month user growth of 179%. Additionally, the platform has seen a significant 395% growth in new dining sessions, highlighting its increasing engagement among users.
The integration with NEAR also opens doors for broader multi-chain integration within the Plato app. Users will soon be able to swap USDC across multiple chains and access other approved Web3 tokens for in-app purchases, including NEAR and SWEAT, one of the first tokens from NEAR.
