Centurion University of Technology and Management, Andhra Pradesh (CUTM-AP), has partnered with Avalanche to issue blockchain-secured academic records. Starting this academic year, over 1,000 degrees—including bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral programs, diplomas, and certificates—will be minted on Avalanche.
The initiative makes each credential tamper-proof and instantly verifiable. It will allow employers, institutions, and government agencies to confirm authenticity in seconds.
This is expected to reduce incidents of academic fraud, a growing challenge in India and abroad.
“Blockchain technology is transforming the way institutions preserve and verify academic records,” said Dr. P.K. Mohanty, Vice Chancellor of CUTM-AP.
By using Avalanche’s scalable infrastructure, CUTM-AP is aligning with India’s Digital India mission, which emphasizes technology-driven governance and secure digital records. Recruiters will no longer need to wait for manual verification, potentially speeding up hiring and admissions processes significantly.
Devika Mittal, Regional Head at Ava Labs, said the collaboration is designed to give students “secure credentials that will stand the test of time.”
She added that Ava Labs hopes to replicate this model across other universities in India.
Governments and accrediting bodies are expected to play a key role by acting as trusted issuers and validators on blockchain platforms. In India, this initiative aligns with efforts by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to support official digital credential frameworks.
The move could also bring cost savings. Traditional verification systems rely on subscription fees and manual labor, while blockchain automates much of the process, cutting administrative overhead. For universities, this can mean lower operational costs and fewer disputes over forged credentials.
The blockchain-in-education market is still in its early stages but growing fast. Valued at $240 million in 2023, the market is projected to hit $3.07 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 44%.
CUTM-AP has already been active in blockchain education through its “Campus to Crypto” initiative, hosting hackathons and Avalanche bootcamps. Its latest step combines technical infrastructure with academic integrity, positioning the university as a pioneer in digital credentialing.
