As the world continues to embrace the exciting world of NFTs, it’s no surprise that industries are looking for innovative ways to integrate this technology into their offerings. Leading global publisher Titan Comics, in partnership with ComicsDAO, is launching a new comic book series based on Nouns NFTs called “Nouns: Nountown”.
The comic books will be printed in April and then sent to 4K to be securely vaulted, with an NFT representing ownership of the physical copy. Owners can redeem the NFT for the physical comic at any time via 4K.
The series will be written by Titan Comics’ Senior Editor David Leach and drawn by Danny Schlitz. There will be two unique NFT cover collections for readers to choose from.
Nouns is a collection of NFTs that are part of Nouns DAO, a decentralized autonomous organization. Each Noun NFT is an algorithmically generated figure stored on the Ethereum blockchain. One Noun is auctioned off every 24 hours, with the proceeds going to the DAO. Owners of Nouns can vote on proposals for projects utilizing the intellectual property. Notable projects that have already been funded include a Budweiser commercial during the Super Bowl and creating glasses for children in need.
The comic book series will have two pre-sales for the community to participate in. The Mosaic collection allows readers to collect six issues and combine them into one large image for the NFT. The Generative cover collection shuffles Nouns, assets, bodies, and expressions so owners can customize their covers.
There will also be 25 blank covers where the artist will custom draw on the physical book as requested by the owner. Both collections will have 420 physical copies and a unique NFT showing the printing, assembly, and edition of each copy.
The comic books will not only be sold via the minting pass but also in bookstores and comic book stores. Every purchase will grant the right to vote on certain aspects of the series like the story concept, writer, and Nouns that are featured. In the future, owners will be able to tap into DeFi with their NFTs.
Richard Li, CEO of 4K, said they are excited to work with Titan Comics and ComicsDAO to bridge the gap between physical and digital collectibles, solving problems like high middlemen fees, fraud, and access in the market.
4156, co-creator of Nouns and anonymous cryptocurrency entrepreneur, said the comic books will connect Nouns with a different audience used to physical collectibles and bring the two mediums together.
Last year another big comic book publisher DC Comics launched their own NFT platform, DC NFT, on the WAX blockchain. This platform allows fans to purchase, own, and trade unique and rare digital collectibles, including artwork, covers, and even complete issues of their favorite DC Comics. By leveraging the power of NFTs, DC Comics is not only preserving the integrity and ownership of its digital assets, but also providing fans with new and exciting ways to collect and engage with the world of DC Comics.
With the combination of compelling storytelling, quality art and the added benefits of NFT ownership, “Nouns: Nountown” is poised to be a game changer in the world of comic books. This partnership between Titan Comics, 4K, and Nouns NFTs shows that the possibilities are endless when it comes to bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds. It’s an exciting time to be a comic book fan and NFT collector!
