ASUS has ‘Art Black hole’ – an NFT artwork platform, marking the company’s first foray into the expanding Web3 space. Joe Hsieh, ASUS COO, said: “Asus pays close attention to the latest developments of emerging industries, and we’re particularly drawn by the potential of the Web3 industry.”

  • The Taiwanese laptop maker launched Art Black hole on Tuesday, a platform for Ethereum-minted NFTs under its new Web3 arm, Asus Metaverse Inc.
  • The new NFT platform is powered by Asus’ cloud computing and artificial intelligence capabilities. It is currently only open to invited artists to list their NFTs, according to a statement from a company representative.
  • Collectors can purchase NFT artworks in New Taiwan dollars, the spokesperson said.
  • The platform does not support secondary trading, but a secondary market “will launch soon,” the company mentioned on its website.
  • “The first step is to show the NFT platform and invite content creators from various fields to become ASUS’ new partners,” Mingjie Xie, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Asus, said in a statement shared with AlexaBlockchain.
  • Beg tech firms are now exploring web3 to bring new offerings and fuel future growth. Meta has recently integrated NFTs capabilities to its two most important social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram. Users in the US can now link their wallets and cross-post NFTs to both the platforms as of September 29.
  • Asus joins Foxconn in entering the metaverse. Foxconn, the Taiwanese company that makes Apple’s iPhones, entered the metaverse earlier this year by teaming with and investing $100 million in XRSPACE, a company that creates virtual reality (VR) equipment.
  • With a market cap of $5.7 billion, Asus is the sixth-largest producer of personal computers in the world.
