McLaren Racing today announces launch of McLaren Racing Collective Platform. The platform will allow fans to purchase McLaren Racing Digital Collectibles in the form of NFTs.

McLaren Racing NFTs And Tezos

The McLaren Racing Collective is operated on the energy-efficient blockchain platform Tezos. In June, McLaren Racing formed a multi-year technical partnership with Tezos to build its NFT fan experience platform.

Tezos is collaborating with McLaren Racing to create digital collectibles in the form of NFTs so that fans can connect directly with the brand.

McLaren Racing Collective Platform

The McLaren Racing Collective Platform will be McLaren Racing’s primary location to allow fans and blockchain enthusiasts alike to engage with the brand, with the first drop featuring different digital components of the MCL35M 2021 Formula 1 race cars, originated from the McLaren Racing CAD system.

The intial digital components will be gifted free to fans who join the McLaren Racing Collective platform. From there, fans can collect one or multiple components as they are released in an experience which enables fans to accumulate all 22 available components and assemble the full digital MCL35M race car.

The collectables will be released in five stages, with the first four components available on Sunday 24 October.

Sweet NFT Marketplace And Tezos

Leading NFT marketplace Sweet today announces support for Tezos-based NFTs. Until now, it only supported Ethereum ERC721 standard on Polygon / Matic and Ethereum Mainnet.

McLaren Racing NFTs are the first Tezos-based NFTs to go live on Sweet NFT marketplace. Consequently, McLaren Racing fans can now collect unique McLaren F1 car parts and build their unique NFT McLaren F1 car on Sweet, powered by Tezos.

Tom Mizzone, CEO of Sweet, said:

McLaren Racing is revolutionizing the digital collectibles space by providing fans with unprecedented views of the MCL35M car parts as true 3D NFTs that can be spun around, fidgeted with, and viewed from all angles. Additionally, McLaren Racing has gamified the entire collectors’ experience as their fans race to collect all the individual 3D car components to unlock the interactive 3D MCL35M Formula One car and access unique fan experiences.

We built the entire McLaren Racing Collective on Tezos for its ecofriendliness, and its compatibility with broad scale use cases and applications for NFTs.

Tezos allows us to continue to prioritize and maintain a seamless, user-friendly digital collecting experience. We expect to see a large move into Tezos NFTs across many IP holder verticals and marketplaces.”

McLaren Racing To Use This Platform As A Long-term Fan Engagement Strategy

McLaren Racing is planning to use McLaren Racing Collective Platform as a long-term fan engagement strategy.

McLaren Racing announced that the first person to complete a full MCL35M will win a trip to a McLaren Formula 1 VIP race weekend experience in 2022. The inaugural drop will be the first of many NFT drops and campaigns as McLaren Racing integrates this pioneering marketplace into its long-term fan engagement strategy.

Lindsey Eckhouse, Director, Licensing, ecommerce and esports, McLaren Racing, said:

“We are excited to launch the McLaren Racing Collective, which will help us engage our fans in an innovative new space. Collaborating with our partner Tezos, we are creating new ways to evolve our fan experience through a bespoke McLaren Racing digital collectable marketplace.”

“The first NFT drop heroes our papaya-liveried MCL35M F1 car. This will give our fans a fantastic opportunity to collect and see each component from every angle while allowing them to win incredible experiences and prizes.”
