Today, Story, the world’s IP blockchain, and World, the identity and financial network for every human, announced a strategic partnership to bring verified human ownership onchain and set a new standard for intellectual property (IP) registration and licensing in the age of AI.
Artificial intelligence has rapidly increased the volume and complexity of content production, but has also blurred the line between human-made and AI-generated works. This shift has opened the door to bad actors spoofing identities, falsely claiming ownership of human-generated content, and flooding platforms with low-quality or inauthentic works.
Story and World are partnering to tackle this problem by embedding unique human ownership into blockchain-based IP registration. World ID, an anonymous proof of human, will be integrated into the Story network. With the integration, individuals will be able to verify unique human ownership of wallets registering IP, as well as set licensing terms for how others can use and pay for IP that they own. This will empower creators to set the terms for how their IP is registered, licensed, and differentiated amidst AI content.
“In a world where AI can replicate content at scale, proving that works are both human and original is increasingly critical,” said Andrea Muttoni, President of the Story Foundation. “With World ID, Story makes authorship verifiable at the point of IP registration, so that human innovation and creativity can be recognized, protected, and built on with confidence.”
Story is purpose-built to help creators across disciplines — from print and digital to AI and mixed media — to protect, grow, and monetize their IP seamlessly onchain. By integrating World ID, Story adds a critical layer of verified human identity to its IP Validation Service (IPVS) framework, enhancing the credibility of attestations and enabling more trusted signals across the entire IP lifecycle.
“World and Story are giving human creators a new tool to prove authorship and enhance trust, define how their work is used, and get compensated for it on their terms,” said Ajay Patel, Head of World ID at Tools for Humanity, a contributor to World. “We’re helping build a future where creative control stays with the people who make the work.”
In an evolving digital economy, human-made works must remain visible, protected, and monetizable. Story and World’s partnership lays the foundation for solutions that scale with the future of digital content. The integration is planned to go live later this year.
