Waterfall Network has made significant strides with its latest protocol upgrade, marking a milestone in its pursuit of decentralized and scalable ledger solutions. The announcement of a successful fork and protocol upgrade brings forth a host of features aimed at enhancing synchronization between coordinators and validators, reaffirming Waterfall’s commitment to innovation and user-friendly ecosystem.

The protocol upgrade introduces several key features that promise to revolutionize the landscape of blockchain technology. Among these features is the optimization of storage, which sees a remarkable reduction in disk storage requirements from 50 GB to a more efficient size. This optimization not only improves the efficiency of the network but also underscores Waterfall’s dedication to ensuring sustainable and resource-efficient solutions.

One of the standout features of the upgrade is the introduction of a Stake Delegation Trial Period, allowing users to withdraw rewards while the initial stake remains locked during the trial period. This innovative approach not only incentivizes participation but also enhances the flexibility and accessibility of the platform, opening doors for a broader user base to engage with the network.

Moreover, the protocol upgrade facilitates stake delegation, enabling collaboration for stake funding and proportional distribution of rewards and stake amounts among contributors. This collaborative approach not only fosters community engagement but also democratizes participation, making the network more inclusive and resilient.

Security remains paramount in the blockchain ecosystem, and Waterfall Network addresses this concern with the introduction of a Secure Cold Wallet for Stake Amount. This feature empowers users to delegate coins directly from their cold wallets for staking, ensuring a secure process for projects with large use cases and mitigating the risks associated with traditional staking methods.

In addition to these groundbreaking features, the protocol upgrade introduces Space Rental for Workers on Nodes, allowing node runners to rent out free space on their nodes for additional workers. This innovation streamlines the process for users to run their applications while providing node runners with additional rewards, fostering a symbiotic relationship within the network.

Sergii Grybniak, Head of Research at Waterfall Network, highlighted the role of these upgrades in bolstering the network’s agility and responsiveness to market demands.

He asserts, “The success of these upgrades is instrumental for Waterfall, as it allows our technology development process to be agile so updates happen frequently to keep up with increasing market demands.”

Furthermore, Grybniak underscores Waterfall’s commitment to decentralization and scalability through the introduction of new features that enhance the user experience and improve the overall efficiency of the ecosystem.

Beyond the headline features, the protocol upgrade brings additional improvements such as enhanced synchronization between coordinators and validators, resolution of synchronization errors during stake or reward withdrawal operations, and minimum block validation before sending across the network. These enhancements not only bolster the reliability and functionality of the system but also lay a robust foundation for future innovations and advancements.

Waterfall Network recently raised $2 million in a Pre-Series A funding round led by ByteTrade Lab, an early stage Web3 investor.
