  • Through 200+ meetups across 13 countries, the #MyFirstSHM campaign introduces users to real-world blockchain use via SHM-powered PayFi.

Shardeum is scaling its long-running “Proof of Community” program with a new hands-on campaign aimed at onboarding 10,000 new users through 200+ meetups across the globe.

The initiative, which began three years ago, has already educated over 28,000 people in 22 countries through more than 500 events.

Unlike conventional crypto marketing, Shardeum’s model emphasizes real-world engagement over user acquisition metrics. Each meetup focuses on equipping participants with working knowledge of Web3, from setting up wallets to sending micro-payments using SHM, the network’s native token.

The initiative’s latest phase, dubbed #MyFirstSHM, introduces newcomers to PayFi — a decentralized alternative to traditional payment finance — by enabling them to send and receive SHM with sub-cent fees and instant finality. With Shardeum now live on mainnet, its linear scaling and low-cost transaction architecture allows for a seamless peer-to-peer experience, regardless of network load.

“Education is the foundation of meaningful adoption,” said Shahzad Nathani, Head of Operations and Partnerships at Shardeum. By focusing on in-person engagement and real-world use cases, we’re creating a model for decentralized adoption that is scalable, inclusive, and sustainable. We believe this is essential to ensure Web3 doesn’t remain a niche but becomes truly global and accessible.”

Each event under the program is backed by a structured curriculum, including MetaMask wallet setup with Shardeum RPC, testnet token transfers, and live demos involving use cases such as tipping, decentralized voting, and real-time micro-payments. Hosts receive a complete toolkit — slide decks, tutorials, and analytics templates — to ensure uniformity and scalability across regions.

The campaign is being rolled out in high-growth markets like India, Nigeria, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kenya, and the Philippines, as well as developed crypto hubs in Japan, the UK, Singapore, and the US. With plans to conduct 10 to 15 meetups monthly, Shardeum is targeting both crypto-curious beginners and community leaders who can amplify local adoption efforts.

This education-first approach contrasts sharply with the speculative fervor still common in Web3. Industry experts believe that tangible utility and hands-on exposure are key drivers of user trust and sustained blockchain engagement.

As emerging markets become hotbeds for decentralized innovation, Shardeum’s low-fee, high-throughput architecture offers a compelling base layer for mainstream crypto payments. Its commitment to on-ground education reflects a broader shift toward utility-driven adoption, especially in regions where traditional finance is either underdeveloped or exclusionary.
