A Decentralized Digital Identity to ensure that every citizen has control of their own data
Indonesia is set to witness a revolutionary development in its digital landscape as Protectoria Venture AS, in collaboration with its local partner PT Gimle Investment Group, has signed a groundbreaking agreement with PT INTI (Persero). PT INTI (Persero) is a state-owned enterprise acting as a strategic trusted adviser to the central government of Indonesia. The agreement aims to propose a decentralized digital identity infrastructure that will benefit public entities, companies, and citizens across the nation.
The partnership commits to working exclusively together to design, build, and operate a digital decentralized identity infrastructure that can be extended to service providers from any sector or industry, facilitating a nationwide rollout. This infrastructure will grant citizens full control over their data while ensuring easy and secure access to various digital services within society.
Protectoria Venture, leveraging its technology platform with architecture utilizing Self Sovereign Identity (SSI) and blockchain technology, will provide the decentralized digital identity services. These services will be delivered as a cloud-based offering known as Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS). PT INTI (Persero), on the other hand, will engage with government entities as a Trusted-Service-Provider for private and public application service providers and end-users under the new Privacy law.
The parties involved firmly believe that the decentralized digital identity infrastructure will become the preferred choice for modern societies, potentially serving as the backbone of the digital economy. This development is expected to accelerate innovation, foster competition, and enhance consumer protection in Indonesia.
Trond Lemberg, the CEO of Protectoria Venture, said:”This is a major recognition of Protectoria Venture’s technology prowess based on SSI and our business proposal. By combining our experience from Scandinavian digitized societies and the vision of leading international institutions, we anticipate significant growth as we enter the vast and burgeoning Indonesian market for digital identity services with strong partners. We also envision multiple applications for our interoperable digital identity services across the ASEAN region in line with the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025.”
Dr. Edi Witjara, the President Director of PT INTI (Persero), shared his ambitious intentions to contribute to Indonesia’s digital transformation. He said, “We are very ambitious with our intentions to assist in providing the country with a digital infrastructure that can effectively secure transactions, protect privacy, and facilitate the digital transformation of Indonesian society. Our partners here will assist us in the provisioning of world-class identity technology and services, aligned with the requests of the Indonesian government, the people, and with international institutions’ visions of an ideal digital identity infrastructure.”
The collaboration between Protectoria Venture, PT Gimle Investment Group, and PT INTI (Persero) marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s journey towards establishing a robust digital ecosystem. The introduction of a decentralized digital identity infrastructure is expected to pave the way for a more secure and efficient digital landscape, benefiting both the government and citizens. With the expertise and technology prowess of the involved parties, Indonesia is poised to become a leading player in digital identity services in the ASEAN region and beyond.
