Ethereum layer 2 Metis has launched its $250,000 ‘Accelerate program,’ to empower promising projects that show both initial traction and sustained growth.

The ‘Accelerate program’, part of Metis’ broader development strategy, offers a tiered grant structure to support Web3 and blockchain projects throughout their development cycle.

A Tiered Approach to Growth and Accountability

The $250,000 Accelerator Program introduces a unique, milestone-based funding model that incentivizes projects to demonstrate real progress in user acquisition and engagement.

Initial grants of $25,000 are awarded to five selected projects based on their early traction, which is measured through metrics like wallet creation and daily active users (DAU).

Projects showing continued growth can advance to the next funding stage, with three follow-up grants of $25,000 each for high performers. The program culminates in a final $50,000 grant, awarded to the most successful project.

This approach stands out in the blockchain space, where accountability can sometimes be overshadowed by hype. By setting clear milestones—such as achieving 10,000 new wallets and maintaining a DAU of 300 for early-stage grants, and hitting 2,000 DAU with 150,000 total transactions for top-tier grants—Metis ensures that projects deliver measurable progress and community engagement as they scale.

Partnering to Build a Thriving Blockchain Ecosystem

In addition to the Accelerator Program, Metis has initiated strategic partnerships to support blockchain projects at every stage.

Recently, Metis collaborated with Gitcoin to fund innovative Web3 projects through a $100,000 Quadratic Funding round. This round saw an enthusiastic response, with 883 donors contributing to 34 projects and raising nearly 32% of the matching pool. The high engagement reflects a growing community interest in supporting long-term, decentralized solutions.

Metis has also joined forces with Google Cloud Web3 and ABGA to launch the GameFi Quantum Leap Accelerator Program, a $10 million initiative aimed at bridging the Web2 and Web3 gaming divide. This program equips developers with essential resources and technical expertise to incorporate blockchain into mainstream gaming.

Innovation Meets Infrastructure with STARTathon

Further supporting its ecosystem, Metis recently introduced the STARTathon program—a fresh take on hackathons that emphasizes structured, results-oriented project development.

With prize incentives totaling over $200,000 in METIS tokens, STARTathon focuses on high-impact areas like Cross-Chain DeFi, Real World Asset Tokenization, and Tokenized Communities.

By targeting these areas, Metis channels innovation toward sectors poised to reshape Web3 and decentralized finance.

Strengthening Blockchain Resilience

Metis’ technical architecture, built on Ethereum with Optimistic Rollups and decentralized sequencers, is designed to prevent single points of failure. This robust infrastructure differentiates Metis from other Layer 2 solutions, offering security and stability for developers and users alike.

With a focus on resilience, Metis ensures that projects in its ecosystem can operate without disruption. This fosters confidence in the infrastructure as well as in the community it supports.
