Menthol Protocol and peaq have joined forces to create a carbon footprint calculator for decentralized applications and infrastructure networks on the Web3. This innovative tool aims to promote sustainability and enable dApps and DePINs on peaq to become carbon-neutral by automatically offsetting their carbon emissions through tokenized carbon and renewable energy credits.

The carbon footprint of a blockchain transaction is notoriously difficult to estimate precisely. As sustainability stays among the top priorities for businesses and investors in 2023, building precise and efficient tools for an eco-friendlier Web3 is a strategic priority for greater growth in the space.

Menthol Protocol, the first multi-chain decentralized sustainability protocol with automatic carbon offsetting, has integrated with peaq, the Web3 network powering the Economy of Things, to build a carbon footprint calculator for decentralized applications (dApps) and Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePINs) running on peaq and its canary network krest.

Besides an overview of the network’s eco-stats, the calculator will also work as the basis for an offsetting mechanism that will enable any dApps and DePINs on peaq to go carbon-neutral.

Menthol Protocol’s tools can be integrated into any facet of the Web3 tech stack to automatically calculate its carbon footprint and purchase a corresponding amount of qualified tokenized carbon and renewable energy credits.
