In a groundbreaking move that challenges the traditional dynamics of Hollywood decision-making, Film.io, the pioneering decentralized filmmaking ecosystem, today unveiled the winner of its Creator Contest. The autonomous selection, orchestrated by fans and governed by the Film.io DAO (decentralized autonomous organization), saw ‘Chickenship,’ a brainchild of Emmy Award-winning comedian Craig Shoemaker and renowned animator David Feiss, clinch the coveted title.

The comedic animated series ‘Chickenship’ chronicles the adventures of a fearless chicken crew aboard the SS Coop as they embark on a mission to unravel the mysteries of genetically modified Bitcorn threatening their planet.

Fans demonstrated their support by utilizing FAN Tokens, a representation of governance power in the creation of a reimagined Hollywood.

This marks a pivotal moment in the film industry’s history, as it relinquishes control back to the fans and creators, allowing them to endorse projects they believe deserve production and distribution.

“Dave and I are absolutely thrilled with the positive responses we have received for our project. Both of us have had a great deal of success in Hollywood, but the traditional pathways of show business have become antiquated,” remarked Craig Shoemaker.

He emphasized the innovative approach Film.io offers, allowing creators to collaborate with animation art enthusiasts and deviating from the conventional, risk-averse decision-making process in Hollywood.

The selection of ‘Chickenship’ was determined by the enthusiastic engagement and backing from the Film.io DAO community, leveraging FAN Tokens.

Notably, FAN Tokens were airdropped to early access participants, empowering them to bolster projects’ Go Score™ within Film.io’s ecosystem. The Go Score serves as a metric for a project’s potential success, accounting for fan collaboration, token stakes, project reviews, and other gamified interactions.

While ‘Chickenship’ triumphed in this democratic competition, acknowledgment was also given to runner-up projects ‘Absolute Zero’ by Bryce Hatch and ‘Saurus City’ by Nate Smith.

Film.io said that it remains committed to fostering a fair and inclusive industry, providing 10,000 free FAN Tokens to non-winning participants, enabling their continued engagement in shaping a future where entertainment is transparent and diverse.

Lauren Magura, Co-Creator of Film.io and VP of Entertainment at Ingredient X, stressed on the urgency for change in the industry, emphasizing Film.io’s dedication to democratizing filmmaking.

“Our creator contest is a tiny example of how powerful Film.io is at garnering fan support and collaboration to greenlight diverse entertainment the world is authentically interested in viewing,” Magura stated.

As the entertainment industry witnesses a transformative shift, Film.io calls upon the community to embrace a vision of an industry owned and operated by the people, striving to free themselves from centralized control and pave the way for the production of desired content.

The announcement marks a milestone in the ongoing revolution, signifying a future where creators and fans collaborate to pioneer a new era of filmmaking.
