Calgary, Canada, June 8, 2023 / AlexaBlockchain/ – The EOS Network Foundation (ENF), lead developer of the EOS Network blockchain, celebrates a monumental milestone, achieving five years of continuous operation since EOS was launched back in 2018.

Today marks the fifth-year anniversary of the launch of the EOS Network and an impressive 1,800+ consecutive days of uptime, proving itself to be the world’s most reliable, highly-performant blockchain network of all.

With the recent launch of the EOS Ethereum Virtual Machine, EOS has been able to achieve a breathtaking performance of more than 100 million transactions per day while the EOS EVM clocks in at an industry leading 950 Swaps Per Second, making it the fastest EVM on the market and the go-to network for high performance, throughput and reliable uptime.

After launching in 2018, the EOS network quickly developed a reputation for being one of the most powerful, robust, and reliable L-1s in the business. Among its early achievements, it successfully rode out an onslaught of CPU miners that threatened to derail its progress, before ranking as the China Centre for Information Industry Development’s number one blockchain.
Community Empowerment

EOS’s progress hit a stumbling block as the community waited in vain for more than two years for its original developer Block.one to fulfill its promises of meaningful investment. Various attempts to gaslight the community led to multiple initiatives that were either never attempted or quickly paused. During that time, EOS ecosystem builders were strung along, given false hope of being funded before ultimately being ghosted.

They were dark times for EOS, but after a period of misguided hope and optimism, the EOS community finally lost patience with Block.one. Its desire for change, leadership and action resulted in the birth of the EOS Network Foundation under the leadership of Founder and CEO Yves La Rose in August 2021. The ENF quickly took control of the project and promptly invested millions in the shape of grants, a new crowdfunding platform and the creation of working groups tasked with setting a roadmap for future development.

Those roadmaps were finalized with the momentous publication of a series of “Blue Papers” that set out a new vision for the future of EOS, and since then it has never looked back, implementing multiple changes including a wide range of ecosystem funding opportunities and upgrades to the core network. One of the most important funding mechanisms it introduced was Pomelo, a crowdfunding platform that uses quadratic voting to empower the EOS community to support and fund their favorite projects.

Meanwhile, development of the EOS Network accelerated rapidly, with the community forking the old EOSIO codebase to create a new, community-owned and community-maintained Antelope protocol. With Antelope, the future of EOS was placed firmly in the hands of the ENF and its community. One of ENF’s main goals was to unify the EOS ecosystem with those of UX, WAX, and Telos under the Antelope Coalition. In September 2021, the EOS Network upgraded itself from the outdated EOSIO codebase to the improved Antelope protocol, a day when it could finally celebrate EOS’s independence.

“As we commemorate the 5th anniversary of the launch of the EOS Network, I am profoundly inspired by the resilience of our community. We have endured much uncertainty standing against corporate greed in defense of our network. Today, we have emerged as champions for the ethos of free and open-source software, forging a path to boundless innovation, not just for ourselves, but for the entire Web3 space,” ENF Founder and CEO Yves La Rose commented.

The culmination of these efforts was the long-awaited launch in January 2023 of the new Antelope IBC solution. Integrated into the base layer of the protocol, it finally unified the EOS, UX, WAX, and Telos ecosystems.

Shortly afterwards, EOS hit yet another key milestone with the launch of EOS EVM, the fastest EVM on the market, to enable full interoperability with Ethereum, blockchain’s largest and most thriving ecosystem.

La Rose added: “We now expand outward to embrace the limitless potential of joining together across networks. With our recent launch of the EOS EVM, and new markets opening to us as never before, EOS stands uniquely positioned to expand the opportunities for all network participants of the Web3 era. Our formative years have taught us much, and we are just getting started.”

The Journey Has Just Begun

The revitalization of the EOS Network has since been noticed by some of the biggest players in crypto, and in recent months it has established significant partnerships with the likes of Binance, Messari and DWF Labs, creating yet more opportunities for ecosystem expansion and growth.

Five years is an epic milestone that speaks to the incredible technological achievements of EOS, but it couldn’t have made it without the support of its incredible community, which has shown itself to be one of the most dedicated, resilient and faithful in the entire crypto industry. With such strong community backing, the EOS Network is surely destined for many more notable achievements and milestones in the years to come, and their role in making it happen will once again prove to be absolutely instrumental. This is not just a celebration for EOS, it’s a celebration for everyone who has, and continues to support it.

La Rose continued: “As we continue on this remarkable journey, I am reminded of these words from Horace: “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant.” Few today yet realize the tremendous will we have honed under such great pressure, or the strength with which we will now rise.”
