Macquarie, with US$600 billion AUM, partners with blockchain infrastructure developer Blockstream to foray into Bitcoin Mining.
Blockstream is a leader in Bitcoin technology and one of the largest Bitcoin miners in North America. The ‘green Bitcoin mining partnership’ is aimed at developing zero-emission Bitcoin mining facilities by exploring carbon-neutral alternatives.
“The first project will be based in North America and will utilize Blockstream’s enterprise-grade mining facilities and expertise in mining hardware hosting to provide additional security to the Bitcoin network,” states Blockstream.
Blockstream’s partnership with Macquarie is followed by previous engagement with Aker and Square to build out alternative and renewable-powered Bitcoin mining projects. The new initiative with Macquarie will include bitcoin mining hardware hosting to start, with the potential to scale in stages as green power infrastructure is deployed.
